ABOUT

The Art:
Arguably one of the most recognized and tragic feminine roles in western literature,
Shakespeare's Ophelia sinks into the waters to drown her maddened mind. Her dress pluming upward from the force of her fall, almost resembles a flower's petals finally unfurling in full bloom. Her features are clown-like, her blouse is that of a young girl, wardrobe reminiscent of a porcelain doll. She reaches upwards, not yearning for the surface, nor another breath of life, but towards the floating remains of the bouquet she brought down with her. A delicate reminder of her journey into delusion,  At one point during her appearance in Hamlet, Ophelia hands out chicken bones and twigs to those gathered in the court - all the while thinking they were flowers. Ophelia's character archetype is that of the duality of the divine feminine nature: a virgin at death, forever pure while still... a dark and chaotic force of nature who ultimately succumbed to her own madness.

The whole town came out,

But there’s a hole in the wall

Where you should be leaning.

And this tune - all about you,

That I’ve been whistling.

Oh, something is missing -

Tell me you feel it too.

Something is missing.

In somebody’s house

In somebody’s hallway

In somebody else’s room.

You dragged me out,

You told me that I was

the fixture, the glue.

You said “you made a choice,

you made a choice,

Remember that, baby?”

“Yes, I know what I said,

Don’t wanna hear again -

Didn’t think you’d drive me

This crazy - crazy “

Train again - it’s 3 am

The whistles tears through my head.

She cries - she moans -

Now I’m feeling like Ophelia,

Only I know all I’m really givin’ ya’

Is bones - bones, bones, bones - oh oh

Ha la la , la la la la , uh oh

We stand outside of your house,

Takes me forever just to say goodbye.

You’ve been walking on wires in the sky.

And now you that I heard the song in your pocket

The beeps of that little bird.

So, you follow the lines to her perch, yeah to her perch.

train again - it’s 3 am

The whistles tears through my head.

She cries - she moans -

Now I’m feeling’ like Ophelia,

Only I know all I’m really givin’ ya’

Is bones - bones, bones, bones - oh oh

I sleep alone inside your shell

The sheets still clinging to your smell.

When I awoke and you had chosen

To catch me before I could leave

Without knowing that you still,

yeah..You still loved me.

That you can’t forget

The curves of my body.

train again - it’s 3 am

The whistles tears through my head.

She cries - she moans -

Now I’m feeling’ like Ophelia,

Only I know all I’m really givin’ ya’

Is bones - bones, bones, bones - oh oh
