"HYMN"

" SING ME GOODBYE, SING ME HELLO,

GIVE ME A HYMN TO HUM AS I GO.

YOU MOVE LIKE FLUID & I MELT LIKE STONE,

GIVE ME A TUNE AND I'LL SOON STEAL YOUR SOUL."

ABOUT

the art:

In the Homeric Hymn of the Greek Myth of Persephone, her mother Demeter was said to have descended to Earth in search of her daughter - taking the form of a dark bird. Blazing with the wrath which only a divine mother could summon from the depths of a grieving heart, she scoured the land of humans for any trace of Persephone, to no avail. Demeter, ignorant to the fact that her daughter had been stolen by the God of the Underworld, was left to wither in despair. So profound was her sorrow that it bled into the mortal realm. Her tears soaked up all the rains causing crops to wither and die in their fields, threatening the survival of those who worshipped the Gods.

the song:

Hymn is a song of dark feminine power - Seductive, alluring, fertile with fury that lies just beneath the surface of a mysterious glance. In the visual depiction, I chose to give the crow three sets of wings, representing the Trinity of the Goddess which is potent within the myth of Persephone. Mother, Maiden & Crone alike are portrayed through Demeter - the mother who becomes the crone, and Persephone - the Maiden who loses her innocence and ultimately becomes the Mother of the Underworld.

LYRICS

The Crow calls out

To my song.

It’s says “Child…oh no!”

“ I can feel the sorrow

In your lung,

I can hear the sorrow

On your tongue”

And we’ll dance,

And we’ll dance,

And we’ll dance.

Sing me goodbye,

Sing me hello.

Give me a hymn to

Hum as I go.

You move like fluid

And I melt like stone.

Give me a tune

And I’ll soon..

Steal your soul.

And we’ll dance,

And we’ll dance

And we’ll dance.
